Laurie Grogan, an independent, self-employed stylist working in Altruist Salon, has been cutting hair in the same building, through for different owners, for 30 years.
Laurie was born and raised in Renton, Washington, and started showing interest in the beauty industry in her late teens, when she worked as a receptionist and shampoo girl at a Seattle salon. She didn’t return to the world of hair until years later, though, after she had moved to Missoula, married her husband, and had two sons. When her youngest went off to school, so did Laurie, attending the Big Sky Barber College. She became a barber instructor for a short time before deciding that her passion was cutting hair, not teaching, and she settled into her current position at 1227 Helen Ave.
Laurie lives with her husband of 40 years and loves to spend time with her two sons, her two daughters-in-law, and her eight grandchildren. Besides spending time playing with her grandchildren, she also loves traveling, camping, gardening, hiking, and camping.

What Laurie loves most about being a stylist: “More than anything, I love my clients, who have become my other family.”
