EMPOWERING A COMMUNITY
Heart Strings, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to harnessing the transformative power of community support by developing events and services that serve women and children, aiming to create a meaningful difference and enhance their overall life success by supporting them in looking and feeling their best.
Heart Strings seeks to address the challenge where women and children lack the means to present their best selves, hindering their confidence and success in daily life, new careers, or returning to school.
We compassionately offer empowering attire and services such as haircuts to help women and children look and feel their best in daily life, new careers, or back to school.
Join Heart Strings in making a difference – your support, both in funds and time, weaves a brighter future for women and children in need.
On August 24, 2023, the Altruist Salon, in collaboration with several other compassionate salon owners, hosted a heartwarming event at Franklin Elementary School that left over 60 students from Franklin and Hawthorne elementary schools with smiles as bright as their newly-trimmed locks. This six-hour event, which welcomed walk-ins throughout the day, not only provided free haircuts for these eager young learners but also extended a helping hand in choosing stylish outfits, thanks to the generosity of the University of Montana Griz softball team and Flathead Industries.
Last August 21, 2024, Franklin Elementary was buzzing with back-to-school excitement as Altruist Salon offered free haircuts to students. For the second year in a row, salon owner Andi Hardy and her team set up shop at the school, providing haircuts and a hygiene station from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hardy loved the experience, sharing, “The kids were so comfortable with their friends around. Some had never had a professional haircut before, and we only had one cry all day!” Even Principal Greg Harrison was excited, saying, “It was a fantastic way to kick off the school year. Fresh haircuts, fresh start.”
In addition to haircuts, we also fundraised to provide clothing for families in need—making the day about more than just fresh styles. It was about showing up for our community and making sure every student felt seen, supported, and confident heading into the new school year.
We were so honored to have this special day featured on NewsTalk KGVO!
